Chocolate Tea Bread

What better in the afternoon than to sit down with a cup of tea and a slice of tea bread, And when it's made of chocolate it's even better.There is probably no better way than to continue my quest to give you the recipes to produce your own lavish afternoon tea party than with a chocolate tea bread.

Using chocolate chips,raisins and walnuts have a slice of this  tea bread with your cup of afternoon tea and tea will never taste the same without a slice again.This is a real must for our afternoon tea party and of course for any other time you have a cup of tea these two together really our classic like pork and apple,lamb and mint . tomato and basil anyway lets not ramble on here's the recipe.

Chocolate Tea Bread

Recipe

175g /6 oz softened butter
100g /3 1/2 oz muscovado sugar
225g /8 oz self-raising flour
4 large eggs lightly beaten
50g /1 3/4oz chopped walnuts
225g /8 oz  dark/plain chocolate chips
100g/3 1/2oz raisins
finely grated rind of 1 orange

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 170C/325F/Gas Mark 3. Lightly grease a 900g/2lb loaf tin and line base with baking parchment.

2.Put the margarine, sugar,  in a large bowl and,  beat together until light and fluffy.Gradually add the eggs beating well after each addition. and fold in the chocolate chips walnuts,raisins and orange rind.Sieve in the flour and fold in.

3.Spoon the mixture into the prepared loaf tin make a slight dip in the centre of the top with the back of a spoon.And bake in pre heated oven for 1 hour or until a fine skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.

4.Leave to cool in the pan for 5 mins then carefully turn out on to a wire rack and leave to cool completely.

5.To serve cut into thin slices.



Macs tip

This tea bread can be frozen well wrapped for up to 3 months defrost at room temperature.
White chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips instead of dark chocolate chips can be used or why not try a mixture of all 3.

One ounce of baking chocolate or cocoa contains 10% of the daily recommended intake of iron.
